CSM (Chlorosulfonated Polyethylene) is an abrasion resistant synthetic rubber that demonstrates good durability against UV light, ozone, and grease as well as good flame retardation. While CSM does not contain any softening agents or anti-aging waxes, it is resistant to aging, even if exposed to alkaline and acid solutions at high mechanical stress in combination with high temperatures (up to 120℃). The material demonstrates good stability against alternating flex loads, which is the most important criterion for durability.
DS fully developed product with decades of worldwide exposure, CSM handrails have been well proven under nearly all climatic conditions. DS CSM handrails have attractive colors and long term color stability. DS CSM handrails also pass 100 hours tests in 100ppm ozone with no cracking or integrity weaknesses.
The following diagrams are DS's recommended handrail designs, C-type and V-type handrails. A properly functioning and fitted handrail must have appropriate interplay between the guide element and drive mechanism of the escalator. The most important design dimensions are the inner width (B), inner height (E) and the lip width (A). The following cross-sectional diagrams and tables provide references for the appropriate values necessary for your system. Alternate designs should be discussed with DS technicians on a case-by-case basis.
